Alicia Navarro Hernández

Alicia Navarro Hernández has a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication and a Master’s degree in Journalism and Media in Europe. Before she joined imec-SMIT-VUB in October 2023 as a PhD researcher, she worked as technical support and management personnel for the Literacies (HUM1044) research group at the University of Seville.

Alicia has had a keen interest in fandom research since her bachelor, and her doctoral thesis seeks to explore the intersection between politics and fandom in the social media age, and the implications this might present for democracy. 

Besides pursuing her PhD, Alicia also works as a teaching assistant at the department of Communication Studies at the VUB.
