Caro Ceyssens
Biography
In 2022, Caro obtained the degree of Master in Communication Sciences: Strategic Marketing cum laude at the University of Antwerp. During her master she developed a large interest in immersive technologies. Her master thesis, titled “To litter or not to litter: Increasing waste reduction through 360 videos”, focused on the effects of immersive videos on behavioral change. Her research therefore lies within the field of immersive technologies and transformative service marketing.
Caro Ceyssens is a full-time PhD student and teaching assistant. Since 2022, she is also a member of the Media, Marketing and User Experience unit at imec-SMIT-VUB. Caro is studying the use of Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance older adults' well-being. By exploring the transformative potential of AR and by combining these technological insights with supporting customers experiencing vulnerabilities, she is striving to create a more positive and inclusive society. With a strong interest in innovation and a heart dedicated to improving older adults' lives, Caro seeks to bridge the digital gap between AR and the aging population. By enlarging our understanding of this understudied customer group, she wants to empower older adults to engage with AR to preserve and enhance their quality of life.
Together with a few colleagues, Caro is part of the editorial team of the ES Research newsletter. This team aims to connect researchers by highlighting the newly published research coming forth from the different departments. Besides her research, she works as a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Business; Marketing and Consumer Behavior. There she assists the courses: Market Research (1MA), Strategic Marketing (1MA), and Academic Writing within the TEW/HI and Management (Bedrijfskunde) programs.
