Cătălina Dumbrăveanu
Biography
With a background in International Relations and Political Science, Cătălina holds a Master's degree (MSc) in International Public Management and Public Policy from Erasmus University Rotterdam and has studied Public Administration at Bocconi University. Additionally, she is experienced in managing EU-funded projects, having worked on civil society and media-related projects in the non-profit and corporate sectors in several EU and neighbouring countries.
Broadly, her research interest focusses on democratic practices and civic participation in a digitalised world. Specifically, her research focuses on understanding models of e-participation in the European Union and the integration of participatory policymaking through digital tools at a supranational level. She also explores the media’s role in creating a European public sphere, media impact and civic spaces.
Catalina has managed three editions of the Stars4Media program, an EU-funded cross-border collaboration scheme for media companies and professionals from across the EU and beyond aimed to foster media innovation, business and newsroom transformation. She is also part of the B.right Spaces project, striving to understand, promote and protect civic spaces in the EU through cross-silos cooperation between stakeholders.
