Dr. Dorottya Varga
Biography
Dorottya holds a PhD in Business Economics from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Prior to completing her PhD, she gained work experience in the telecommunications, nonprofit and public sectors. In addition, she has a master’s degree in International Business Economics and Management from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and a master’s degree in International Relations from Eötvös Loránd University.
In her role as a senior researcher within the Data, Governance and Communities (DGC) unit, Dorottya contributes to the digital transformation of smart cities and communities. Her work spans diverse areas, including developing data spaces that facilitate secure information sharing, establishing AI testing and experimentation facilities to ensure responsible AI implementation, and pioneering the use of local digital twins to optimize urban systems. Her research focus is on business models in data ecosystems in smart cities and communities.
