Milutin Djuraskovic
Biography
Milutin holds a Business Administration degree from La Sagesse University, Lebanon, a Bachelor in Social Sciences from VUB and Ghent University (Cum Laude), and a Master’s Degree in Science of Conflict and Development Studies from Ghent University (Summa Cum Laude). Prior to starting at SMIT, Milutin worked as a field interviewer for a joint project between Ghent University, Liège University, perspective Brussels, and the city of Brussels that aimed to create more inclusive cultural spaces; did an internship in the Communications and Partnerships department of the African World Heritage Fund, a category II UNESCO center based in South Africa; worked as associate researcher in short market research projects with SUAZIO Consulting; and as Junior Researcher and Teaching Assistant at the Middle East and North Africa Research Group (MENARG) at Ghent University.
His research interests derive from his multidisciplinary and critical academic training that is anchored in collaborative and participatory research methodology that aims to center the lived experience and embodied knowledge of especially marginalised and vulnerable communities in scientific research and policy development.
Milutin joined the Digital Inclusion and Citizen Engagement (DICE) Unit at imec-SMIT, VUB in February 2024 as a PhD Researcher. He is currently the lead researcher on the UP2030 project that is focused on climate neutrality, e-inclusion, and spatial justice in a smart city context. SMIT's role in the project is the co-development of "Neutrality Story Maps" which are map-based stories by citizens on the topic of climate change and climate transitions in the city.
