Elias Blanckaert

Elias is a user researcher at imec-SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). His research focuses on the innovation of the media landscape through emerging technologies, with a particular emphasis on living lab and co-creation methodologies. 

Elias worked on the European Möbius project, which aimed to modernise the European book publishing industry by exploring the potential of prosumers and developing enriched media experiences.

Currently, Elias is involved in the European Presence project, where he investigates immersive human-to-human and human-machine interactions. The project aims to enhance social and professional XR experiences through the development and integration of technologies such as holoportation, haptics, and virtual humans. As part of the project, these technologies are evaluated in real-world use cases through extensive user research and user studies.
