Frederic Heymans
Biography
Frederic Heymans holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism and a master's degree in Communication Studies, specializing in New Media & Society in Europe. In the past, Frederic has worked in journalism and communication (for a political think tank and in the private sector).
Frederic's professional focus revolves around the multifaceted impact of AI on society. This includes a keen interest in AI, data, and digitalization policy, with an emphasis on AI ethics. He also explores the intersection of AI and journalism, as well as AI and sustainability.
At the Knowledge Centre Data & Society, Frederic works as a research and projects assistant, focusing on policy analysis and contributing to initiatives like the AI & Data Policy Monitor and policy prototyping. As a PhD student at imec-SMIT-VUB, his research centers on the operationalization and implementation of normative digitalization policy frameworks, with a particular emphasis on the role of stakeholders. Additionally, he is actively involved in the sustAIn.brussels project, which supports the sustainable digitalization of SMEs in Brussels.
