Biography
Jéssica Ferreira Morais holds the position of researcher at imec-SMIT-Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Concurrently pursuing a Master's in Management at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), she holds a postgraduate degree in Economics and Health Management at the MBA level, and a bachelor's in Social Sciences, focused on communication and marketing. Jéssica brings a wealth of experience, having dedicated four years to her role at a public hospital in Brazil, where her responsibilities encompassed hospital procurement and the strategic development of health services.
Her current research centres on the economic evaluation and business model exploitation of digital health technologies, focusing on the transition from academia to the real-world market. Jéssica's overarching ambition is to facilitate intercontinental knowledge exchange in the realm of healthcare practices, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of people’s quality of life through the adept utilization of digital innovations.
Jéssica's research endeavors revolve around the economic evaluation and valorization of various projects within the healthcare domain. For the SEURO project, she takes charge of the economic evaluation and the business model development of four distinct technologies aimed at empowering elderly populations across European regions to self-manage multiple chronic health conditions. Additionally, she plays a collaborative role in the business and data-sharing sphere, contributing to the development of streamlined data flow and process optimization strategies for food consumption in healthcare facilities. Moreover, she engages in research initiatives aimed at constructing comprehensive healthcare landscape maps, facilitating market research, and localizing business models for digital health solutions. Here, she has had the privilege of participating in a business idea incubation program, providing invaluable insights into the challenges inherent in translating academic research projects into viable business models that ultimately serve the advancement of society.
