Laura Temmerman
Biography
Laura has a master's degree in Consumption Psychology from the ULB. She has been a researcher at SMIT since 2018 where she worked on several H2020 and Horizon Europe projects (HackAIR, FloodCitiSense, WaysTUP!, DUET) together with more local projects (ASSUZB, Brussels by us). She started a PhD track in 2024 based on the Horizon Europe "Urban ReLeaf" project.
As part of the DICE (Digital Inclusion and Citizen Engagement) unit, Laura's work focuses on inclusive citizen engagement in the digital society. Her expertise revolves around citizen and user participation (co-creation processes, usability assessment, participatory studies, Citizen Science, etc.). Within her PhD track, Laura is specifically looking at the participatory aspects of urban transitions, and the role of urban/digital commons and sociotechnical imaginaries in this process.
In the framework of the Urban ReLeaf project, Laura is responsible for the Work Package "Stakeholder Dialogue And Inclusive Citizen Participation" which encompasses a policy documents analysis, multi-stakeholder participatory workshops, and support to the 6 pilot cities in implementing their Citizen Science strategies. This work resulted in the creation of a Blueprint for inclusive engagement stragies in Citizen Science.
