Simon Delaere
Biography
Simon holds Master degrees in Communication Sciences (VUB) and Communications Policy (Westminster). He joined SMIT in 2004, first as a junior researcher, then as project and team leader. He participated in many national and European research projects as researcher, task and work package leader, including ICON, SBO, COST, CIP, FP7, HORIZON and CEF projects. From 2013 to 2015 and from 2017 to 2020, he coordinated the large scale European projects SPECIFI (CIP) and HRADIO (H2020).
As a researcher, Simon's main interests are in media and communications policy, i.e. the way in which European, Belgian and Flemish governments and agencies regulate and support the audiovisual and telecommunications sectors in order to promote public value, innovation, competitiveness, diversity, sustainability etc. In the past, he also worked extensively on markets and business models for innovative telecommunications and media products and services.
Simon's current main role at SMIT is that of Research Valorisation Manager. In this capacity, he supports the management and senior staff in defining and implementing a research and valorisation strategy and in the overall
