Dr. Laurence Claeys
Biography
Bringing knowledge of engineering and social sciences together to create a common story of the future is Laurence's passion. As culture often lags behind technological inventions, she is always at the forefront, striving to influence inventions in ways that make them meaningful and empowering for citizens, organizations, and society. She is particularly driven by emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, distributed ledgers, and chatbots, and she loves re-modeling the underlying architecture and data models to transform inventions into innovations.
After completing her PhD in Communication Sciences, she worked for several years at Alcatel-Lucent (now NOKIA), where she became fully immersed in the telecom industry's approach to business and innovation. Following this experience, her passion for technology led her to combine an academic career at the VUB and SMIT with the foundation of an Internet-of-Things company.
