Some new projects started between January 2024 and March 2024 at imec-SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In this news item, we summarise these projects for you.
DIMENTIA
March marks the conclusion of the DIMENTIA project, a two-year multidisciplinary initiative funded by Innoviris. Bringing together researchers from the Digital Health and Work Unit with partners from UZBrussel, KLIW, ETRO and Collibra, the project aimed to develop a clinical-value data sharing ecosystem for Alzheimer’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Within this multidisciplinary framework, SMIT contribution involved defining stakeholders and their various needs, identifying social and technical user requirements, and exploring the broader social and legal context surrounding the platform’s development. Preliminary findings from this research have been summarized in a SMIT Policy brief, showcasing the project’s impact and relevance.
COOCK FINE
With the commencement of the COOCK FINE project, researchers from the Digital Health and Work unit embark on an ambitious endeavor aimed at developing a data ecosystem for nutrition in healthcare. The primary aim of this project is to reduce food waste in healthcare institutions, such as hospitals and nursing homes, by enhancing food intake monitoring and facilitating data sharing. Within this project imec-SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel will collaborate with a diverse array of partners including healthcare institutions, such as nursing homes and hospitals, alongside their kitchens, as well as companies within the food industry supplying the healthcare sector, technology providers offering solutions in meal management and data administration, and other research partners and institutions.
