Pieter Duysburgh
Biography
Pieter Duysburgh holds a master’s degree in Sociology and Journalism. In the past, he has worked as a prevention worker on sexual health, a researcher on user empowerment and participatory design, and as a project manager on digital inclusion.
Pieter is the operational lead of the Knowledge Centre Data & Society, which looks at the legal, ethical and societal aspects of data and AI driven applications. He is also part of the SMIT communication team.
Next to the management of the Knowledge Centre Data & Society, Pieter works on several projects of the knowledge centre. He has a special interest in ethics in practice, supporting organisations to make ethical practices part of the governance of their AI projects. Additionally, he looks at participatory processes for adoption of AI on the work floor. Finally, he works on the citizen science project amai!, which informs and involves the general public in AI innovation.
