On 18 February 2026, Fair MusE - the Horizon EU funded project aimed at promoting fairness for a more sustainable and competitive music ecosystem in Europe - hosted its final conference in Brussels. The event titled "Reclaiming fairness in Europe’s digital music ecosystem: creators, platforms, and policy solutions” focused on how copyright frameworks, data infrastructures, and platform governance shape the distribution of value and power in the digital music ecosystem, while presenting new analytical tools designed to improve transparency and assess fairness in digital environments.
Research Professor Heritiana Ranaivoson and postdoctoral researcher Adelaida Afilipoaie, both part of the imec-SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel have been involved in the project since its inception, leading the work package on Platforms, Businesses and Professionals in the Music Industry. Dr. Afilipoaie moderated the second session dedicated to two of Fair MusE’s core analytical tools: the Music Data Dashboard and the Fairness Score. Fair MusE will announce the release of many useful documents for decision-makers, creators, and music enthusiasts in the 'Resources' page on its award winning website. Stay tuned!
